How it works
- Add a title if you like, then choose a difficulty: easy, medium, hard or expert.
- Choose how many puzzles you want, from 1 to 12, and how many should go on each printed page: 1, 2, 4 or 6.
- Check the live preview. Click New sudokus for a fresh set, and switch the solution on or off to check the answers.
- Download the PDF in A4 or US Letter, or print straight away. The puzzles come first, followed by separate answer pages.
Tips for printing sudoku
- New to sudoku? Start with easy. Every puzzle on easy and medium can be solved with simple logic: a cell where only one digit fits, or a row, column or box where a digit has only one possible place.
- Hard and expert puzzles have fewer givens and call for more advanced reasoning. They suit experienced players who like to keep pencil notes in the margins.
- One large puzzle per page is the most comfortable to solve, especially for people with low vision. Two per page still leaves room for notes; four or six per page is handy for a quick warm-up or to save paper.
- Making a puzzle booklet? Generate 12 puzzles, put 2 or 4 on a page and staple the sheets together. The answer pages can go at the back or stay with you.
- Each set has a puzzle code. The same code and settings give exactly the same puzzles again, so jot the code down if you want to reprint a set later. Nothing is saved on the site.
- For a mixed group, print the same number of puzzles at two difficulty levels. Everyone gets a fair challenge and can move up when they are ready.
In the classroom
Sudoku uses digits, but no arithmetic: it is pure logic. That makes it a good way to practise systematic thinking, patience and checking your own work. Pupils learn to rule options out step by step instead of guessing.
Print a sheet with four or six easy puzzles for early finishers, or hand out one medium puzzle as a starter and talk through the strategies together afterwards. With the puzzle code you can print the same set again for another class.
For seniors and brain training
Many older adults enjoy a daily sudoku as a way to stay sharp. Activity coordinators in care homes and day centres can print a small booklet with puzzles at different levels, so everyone finds something that suits them.
For people with poorer eyesight, choose one puzzle per page: the grid then fills most of the sheet and the digits are easy to read. Easy and medium are a good place to start for anyone who has not played in a while.

What do the difficulty levels mean?
